The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that Northbound I-5 will be reduced from four lanes to three lanes from April 1 through October 31, 2024 north of Lake Hughes Road to build a retaining wall & upgrade drainage
In agreement with local governments, Caltrans will reduce the lanes during this time to avoid winter holiday travel and to complete construction during dry weather. The lane reduction is in the section of I-5 north of where the freeway lanes split in Castaic, west of Castaic Lake. The next off-ramp from northbound I-5 after Lake Hughes Road is Templin Highway
This construction is part of a project that began in April of 2022. The overall scope of the project includes replacing and stabilizing slopes through rock scaling and installing geogrid, and construction of the retaining wall.
Please allow extra travel time and drive with caution through the construction zone.
