The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that the left-most lanes on I-5 northbound and southbound will close overnight starting Monday between Oregon Convention Center and Burnside Bridge for installation of temporary barriers.
The work will require intermittent closures on weeknights fromย 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.ย Closures are expected on the nights of January 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and the following week on the nights of January 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30.
No detours required: Drivers travelling in either direction will be able to use the open lane.
About the I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project:
ODOT is improving safety and congestion where I-5, I-84 and I-405 converge andย reconnecting the Albina neighborhood by constructing a highway to cover over a portion of I-5.
From summer 2025 through late 2026, ODOT will be constructing new stormwaterย facilities, repairing the concrete deck in a section of I-5 completing a seismic retrofit, extending an existing merging lane on SB I-5, and constructing a new sign structure.
