The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces scheduled overnight full freeway closures in both directions of Interstate 5 (Santa Ana Freeway) between Artesia Boulevard. and Carmenita Road with related ramp closures to dismantle falsework on the new Valley View Avenue Bridge.
The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:
- I-5 scheduled to be closed in both directions between Artesia Boulevard and Carmenita Road:
- 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, January 2 until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3.
- 11:59 p.m. Thursday, January 3 until 5:00 a.m. Friday, January 4.
- Westbound SR-91 (Artesia Freeway) connector to northbound I-5:
- 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2 until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3.
- 11:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3 until 5:00 a.m. Friday, January 4.
- Southbound I-605 (San Gabriel River Freeway) connector to southbound I-5 closed:
- 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2 until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3.
- 10:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3 until 5:00 a.m. Friday, January 4.
- S. Firestone Boulevard closed from Marquardt Avenue to the Valley View Avenue Bridge:
- 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2 until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3.
- 9:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3 until 5:00 a.m. Friday, January 4
These closures are all scheduled for separate nights and will re-open each morning.
Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic to exit I-5 and use Artesia Boulevard to Carmenita Road, back to I-5 or the reverse route.
Alternate route: Consider using westbound State Route 91 (Artesia Freeway) to northbound I-605 (San Gabriel River Freeway) or the reverse route.
