Overnight Stops - Redding, California | I-5 Exit Guide

The California Department of Transportation has issued the following status reports for Interstate 5 construction projects in District 2 (Redding Area).

I-5 – North of Redding – PIT RIVER BRIDGE
Construction work currently in full operations; delays anticipated and planning ahead is advised. Expect at least 1 hour and up to 3-hour delays from 8AM through 7PM. Work is being done to improve the surface and key components of the Pit River Bridge. Caltrans and Golden State Bridge Inc. and other contractors are working on this project throughout the summer with pilot cars and traffic coordinators from TS (Traffic Specialties.) SPEED LIMIT is generally up to 45 miles per hour with current signage indicating 35mph.

I-5 – North of Redding – DUNSMUIR GRADE PROJECT
Phase II of the Dunsmuir Grade Project is currently in full operations with delays up to 15 minutes through mid-June, both NB and SB. Exit ramps are open Northbound. Two exit ramps are closed Southbound (Mott Rd. and Siskiyou/Dunsmuir Ave.)Please respect the 55 mph speed limit and expect southbound traffic changed right after the CHP Dunsmuir Scales. Work is being done seven days per week. Caltrans, J.F.Shea Construction and other contractors are working on this project throughout the summer with pilot cars and traffic coordinators from TS (Traffic Specialties.)

I-5 – Southbound, project located between Dunsmuir and Redding –
SHASTA VIADUCT

When you are driving Southbound you’ll see the Shasta Viaduct Project to your left. Several miles before this project please follow the signs indicating speed reduction and eventually a lane closure. Motorists will go throughout this project on one lane only with speed limit up to 45mph. Caltrans, Golden State Bridge Inc., Tullis Inc and other contractors are working on this project throughout the summer and we anticipate to have this project completed by the fall.
