Exit Closures, Lane Restrictions, Detours for I-5 Work in Washington Thru December 30

I-5 Washington Road Closed | I-5 Exit Guide

The Washington State Department of Transportation reports the following I-5 traffic impacts associated with construction and maintenance operations through December 30, 2020.

  • Friday Dec. 18 into spring 2021:
    • The southbound I-5 exit 133 to I-705 and SR 7 in Tacoma is now temporarily located near East Bay Street. This change means southbound I-5 travelers using exit 133 will exit much earlier than before.​
  • Monday, Dec. 21 from 10:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 22
    • SR 167 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close.
  • Monday, December 21 from 10:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 22
    • Northbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane from 41st Division Drive near JBLM to Gravelly Lake Drive in Lakewood.
  • Monday, December 21 through Wednesday, December 23 each night from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
    • Southbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane from Gravelly Lake Drive in Lakewood to 41st Division Drive near JBLM.
  • Monday, December 21 through Wednesday, December 23, each night from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
    • Berkeley Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close.
  • Northbound I-5 exit to Thorne Lane will close.
    • Thorne Lane on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close.
  • Tuesday, December 22 and Wednesday, December 23, each night from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
    • Northbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane from 41st Division Drive near JBLM to Gravelly Lake Drive in Lakewood.
    • Thorne Lane on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close.
  • Monday, December 28 through Wednesday, December 30, each night from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
    • Southbound SR 167 will close from East Grandview Avenue to East 27th Street.
