The California Department of Transportation reminder for Saturday, December 10, 2022:

All truck-trailer combinations for northbound Interstate 5 traffic are currently being held at Fawndale Road, 10 miles north of Redding. State Route 299 (east) is not advised as an alternative route for interstate traffic due to heavy snow accumulations and chain controls.

Truck traffic is advised to remain on I-5 until conditions improve. Failure to comply with chain controls on secondary routes jeopardize these routes availability to continue to stay open under chain control.

Motorists are advised not to plan travel off secondary GPS applications during winter weather events. Travel in higher elevations only as necessary and use QuickMap for 24/7 highway condition updates: https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/
