The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is executing a traffic reconfiguration on southbound Interstate 5 between Exit 252 and Exit 248. On the evening of July 23, 2026, southbound traffic will be transitioned to the newly paved and widened three-lane segment between Kuebler Boulevard and Delaney Road.
Crews will implement a phased lane closure beginning with the fast lane at approximately 9:00 p.m. on July 23, directing traffic to the right. The transition is scheduled for completion by 5:00 a.m. on July 24. Northbound I-5 traffic will remain unaffected within the work zone. Motorists should anticipate rolling slowdowns, temporary lane shifts, and reduced speeds during the operation. The far-right lane will stay closed to accommodate final construction activities.
All drivers are required to exercise heightened caution in work zones, reduce speed, and yield to construction personnel and equipment. Fines are doubled in Oregon work zones regardless of the presence of workers or signage.
