The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) reports that Northbound Interstate 5 will have one or two lanes closed from 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, until about 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 5, for pavement construction in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles.

Crews will be working on Northbound I-5 north of Hollywood Way in the Sun Valley community. Please note that this will not result in a complete freeway closure; one or more lanes will remain open for traffic.

We recommend travelers to allow extra time for their journey and consider using alternative routes to avoid potential delays. Keep in mind that the project schedule may change due to weather or operational reasons.

This I-5 construction is part of a Caltrans project focused on replacing individual concrete slabs on the freeway, repairing and maintaining asphalt pavement at over 60 on-ramps and off-ramps, installing more than 136,000 linear feet of high-visibility 6-inch-wide lane striping, and implementing other enhancements along 11 miles of I-5, from south of Hollywood Way in Sun Valley to as far north as Roxford Street in Sylmar.

These repairs and upgrades aim to enhance the quality of the ride for travelers and extend the lifespan of the roadway. The contractor for this $8.3 million project is C.A. Rasmussen Inc. of Valencia.
