I-5 travelers passing through Oregon next week should be aware of the following traffic restrictions as a result of construction activities that may impact their trip.
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that on Sunday, May 18, through Thursday, May 22, drivers can expect the southbound I-5 on and off-ramps to OR 228 Halsey/Brownsville Exit 216 to close nightly between 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Detour signs will be up showing how to get around the closures by taking either Exit 209 or Exit 228 depending on the direction you need to go.
Only one ramp at a time will be closed while we work on paving.
What I-5 Drivers Can Expect:
- Crews working mostly at night, Sunday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Some daytime work as needed.
- Single lane closures between 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
- Construction noise and delays.
- A reduced speed limit to 55 mph in the work zone.
- No lane changes allowed where there are double white lines.
About the I-5 project
Last year, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) began construction on the I-5 paving project between Halsey and the Linn/Lane county line.
On northbound I-5, work was completed paving and installed rumble strips, reflective markers and guardrail. New permanent striping has also been applied.Â
All work is weather dependent and subject to cjange.
