The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced overnight lane closures on I-5 and intermittent overnight street closures on Sheldon Street beginning March 16 through summer 2026 for bridge work on Sheldon Street Overcrossing in Sun Valley.
Southbound I-5 will be reduced to one lane overnight between Branford Street and Sheldon Street/Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
Intermittent overnight street closures of Sheldon Street between Remick Avenue and Laurel Canyon Boulevard will continue through summer 2026. Detour signs will be posted.
The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:
Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, March 20:
- Sheldon Street will be closed overnight between Remick Avenue and Laurel Canyon Boulevard starting as early as 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
Monday, March 16 through Summer 2026:
- Up to three lanes will be closed on southbound I-5 from Branford Street to Sheldon Street/Laurel Canyon Boulevard starting as early as 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
- Branford Street on-ramps to southbound I-5 will be closed as early as 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
Caltrans encourages motorists to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution in the area.
Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change including the times and dates, the number of closures and other details.
This work is part of $1.7 million bridge repair project to address damages to the southbound side of Sheldon Street Overcrossing.
