The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that they will be closing lanes so crews can safely use and move the large crane that places the beams for the driving surface of the new bridge.
Tuesday, February 3:
- One lane of northbound I-5 will close starting at 8:00 p.m.
- Two lanes of northbound I-5 will close starting at 10:00 p.m.
- Flaggers will direct traffic at each on and off-ramp at both ends of Ehlen Road NE.ย
- Traffic to be held on Ehlen Road NE about every 30 minutes while crews set the beams over the road. Once a beam is safely set, the on and off-ramps and Ehlen Road NE will reopen.
- Ehlen Road NE and both lanes of northbound I-5 will reopen by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4.
- Construction noise.
- Delays up to 20 minutes.
Crews will set 10 beams each span/day, total of 20 beams for east portion.
Wednesday, February 4:
You’ll see crews moving the cranes and repositioning them to begin work on Thursday.
Thursday, February 5:
Crews will finish placing the beams during the day. While ODOT doesn’t plan to have lane or road closures, expect to see flaggers helping direct traffic when construction vehicles are moving on and off site.ย
Don’t forget to slow down on I-5 in the work zone
ODOT construction equipment is moving in and out of the area, often using the far left lane โ avoid using this in the work zone.
Other impacts you can expect if you’re driving through the project area:ย
- Crews working daily, Sunday through Thursday with occasional night and weekend work.โ
- Up to two lanes closed nightly in either direction on I-5 as needed from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Other roads in the project area to have single lane closures as needed from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Reduced speed to 55 mph in the I-5 work zone.
- Construction noise and delays.
- No lane changes are allowed where there are double white lines.โ
Use caution as you drive through the work zone,โ there are grooves in the pavement along the median shoulder.โ
